Background and description of course

In 1995, Iraq admitted to UNSCOM that they had produced and weaponized botulinum toxin. More recently, ricin has been found in terrorist hideouts in London and Afghanistan. Military and civilian medical and public health professionals have become concerned about toxins and must become proficient in the recognition and management of toxin casualties. This live, interactive, two-hour satellite broadcast will inform and educate health professionals with detailed information on the most likely toxins that terrorists might use. World-renowned experts from the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and other organizations will present this program. The U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command will host the program at no charge to the viewer. The last broadcast in this series of Advanced Topics on Medical Defense Against Biological and Chemical Agents will be on 27 Aug 2003. This broadcast is a stand-alone educational activity, requiring participant viewing only . Dates of future broadcasts for the series of Advanced Topics on Medical Defense Against Biological and Chemical Agents are 27 Aug 2003 (Title TBA).
